The most accurate setting of your Tide Clock can be achieved by setting the clock to High Tide at full moon. To do so, make a note of when that is (using a local tide timetable or www.tide-forecast.com, for example) and, at that moment, switch your clock off and on again to trigger it to move to exactly High Tide at that exact time.

To fully enjoy your tide clock, we thoroughly recommend reading the section “How your Tide Clock works” in your instructional manual, if you haven’t done so already. This explains how the clock’s tide mechanism works to match the timings of the gravitational pull of the Moon as it orbits the Earth. Reading this section should help you to recognise that any tide clock will have its limitations because there are additional geographical factors at play that create your local tidal pattern each day and lunar month. Additionally, the clock (as any tide clock) works by timing the monthly average time between daily high and low tides (6 hours and 12½ minutes) but over the course of a month, there are slight fluctuations to the time between each tidal oscillation. There are therefore times in the month when your tide clock will more closely match the exact High/Low Tides in your location, and other times in the month when that match will be less close. If set at full moon, you can expect the accuracy to return at each and every full moon.
